This weeks question was: Are there any book to movie adaptations where you think the movie is better than the book?
This was a tough one! I've been thinking about it all week....
At first I thought no there are none. I have been disappointed over and over by movies made from books. I thought of:
Not to mention tv show adaptations such as:
Then yesterday I thought of one!
So there you have it! Out of all of the movie adaptations of books the only ones that I could think of that I liked the movies more than the books were the Narnia books. There is actually one book I refuse to read because I liked the movie so much. I'm afraid if I read it I will hate the movie like I do most other movies made from books:
The Hunger Games!

I loved the Narnia movies... read all the books too.
DeleteHopping through. Congrats on being the feature! Hmmm...I haven't thought of that with Hunger Games. I liked the movie but liked the book a lot more. But they're both good.
ReplyDeleteMy FF
Ha! See you liked the book more! LOL
DeleteCongrats on the feature! This is a tough one, I usually like the book better than the movie- I would have to think about this more...

I'm in love with the Narnia movies. Like watch them on repeat in love with them.

I loved The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe but was a little disappointed by Prince Caspian.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being this week's feature, new bloglovin follower.
Congrats on the feature! Sadly, I haven't read or watched Narnia. I hope to, soon, though!

I totally didn't think of the Hunger Games. I liked the movie, but I couldn't get into the book. I totally agree with you not wanting to read it.

Happy Friday!
I never read the Narnia books but I really enjoyed the films. I only seen the first two but they were good. I ended up watching the Hunger Games movie first and liked it a lot but felt it was missing background information. I knew the books would offer that so I read them and liked them more than the film but I had a new appreciation for the adaptation. I can see how you don't want to read them though! I feel that way about a few book to movie adaptations.

I really liked Legend of the Seeker, (probably because I haven't read the books.) I haven't read or watched the True Blood series, but I've heard that they're so different from the books. Congrats on being the feature!

Usually if I like a movie based on a book it's because I haven't read the book..lol. I didn't like HG, and thought the movie was meh. I liked the Narnia movies but I haven't read the books. :) It will probably stay that way too as I love watching fantasy movies but reading them not so much.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being featured!! Old follower.
I'm with you that was a really hard one. Followed you at GFC & Pinterest. You can follow us @ http://2bookaholics.com
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for the feature! I've watched all Narnia movies but I haven't read any of the books :-| my friend thought the movie was better though... this question is really hard. Followed you with GFC and Bloglovin!
ReplyDeleteThats interesting! I much preferred the books to the movie, however i was in love with those books when i was younger and used to read them over and over so it's not much of a surprise! Congratulations on being a feature :)

Mabye that's why. I didn't read the books until after the first movie came out and I was an adult by then.
DeleteCongrats on being featured! You definitely deserve it, I loved your vlog last week :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with all the disappointments you noted... I didn't enjoy any of those either, and thought things were so far from the books it wasn't even funny.
I haven't watched Narnia, though. However, Hunger Games might be the one movie where I wasn't disappointed even if I loved the books.
Have a fantastic Friday!

Thanks Lexxie! I had fun making the vlog and hope to make more.
DeleteCongrats on being a feature! I can usually enjoy the adaptations, but don't usually think they are better - Harry Potter, The Hunger Games being two examples. But I did manage to think of 4 that I liked as much as the book.
ReplyDeleteNew GFC follower, congrats again! My F&FF.
Congrats on being featured! :)

Congrats on being featured!
ReplyDeleteI can tell you that I felt the Hunger Games movie was spot on, and I felt they were both wonderful and not one was better than the other. Just don't do the audio for Hunger Games should you choose to read it after all.
Julie @ Chapter Break
Thanks for the tip on the audiobook version since I tend to lean towards audio.
DeleteI hear ya! I've really liked these last Narnia movies too, especially Prince Caspian. I think that was my fave. I liked HP okay, and didn't mind Twilight, but I won't even touch Legend of the Seeker. I loved the books too much. And I don't care either way about True Blood. :D Thanks for vising my blog. Now following you via Bloglovin'. Happy Friday! :D
ReplyDeleteMy brother and I were so excited for Legend of the Seeker and when the show came out he called me and we were both like what the hell? LOL Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteThe Narnia movies are soo good! I remember my dad reading them to me but I never read them myself. Nice choices :)

ReplyDeleteI completely forgot about Narnia! I liked the books, but absolutely adored the movies. I was okay with how HP was presented though I hated the Twilight movies. Personally, I thought the Hunger Games movie was a great interpretation, but I can understand your reluctance. Old follower.
Happy Friday!
Congratulations on being featured!!! :) You had a great vlog last week.!
ReplyDeleteI totally forgot about Narnia but I agree, the movies are so much better than the books. I also have a hard time reading the Hunger Games because I've already seen the movie and I just can't stomach reading a book after I've seen it's movie. I get all offended because the book is different and didn't stay true to it's movie. Funky, right? lol

I love Narnia but I haven't read the book yet.
ReplyDeleteHope you can visit my Feature and Follow Friday
Hi! I love Narnia! I liked the first and second one a lot, but the third one was, eh...wasn't as good. I tried to read the books but only read a little bit of the first one. As for The Hunger Games, I suggest not reading the books, at least while the movies are still coming out, if you loved the movie. Cuz I read the books before they started making the movie and I loved the books way better. When I saw the movie, I was a little disappointed. But that's my opinion though. I heard a lot of people liked it, though I'm not sure if they are the ones who haven't read the books yet before watching the movie:/
ReplyDeleteAnyways...
And congrats on being featured!!!

Hey, Lacie, have you really never read The Hunger Games? When I went to rent the movie, the girl at the counter said, "That's my FAVORITE MOVIE!!! IT'S SOOOOOO GOOD!" I said, "Have you read the book? It's one of my favorite books!" She said, "No, I don't want to ruin the movie!" So, you are not alone!!! But I still think you should read the book! Now off to figure out what I'm going to post...
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the Narnia books but I have seen a couple of the movies and I thought they were pretty good! Thanks for stopping by my blog! Following you back :)
ReplyDeleteCrystal @ Elegantly Bound Books
I haven't read the Narnia books or seen the movies. I bought used copies of the books a few years ago but I'm not really interested in reading them. Good thing they were cheap!
ReplyDeleteI didn't like the True Blood show either. I just couldn't get into it.
I've only seen the first Narnia and it was pretty good but I loved the Harry Potter movies! I thought they were awesome but to me books will always be better!
ReplyDeleteI'm a new Bloglovin' follower!
I've never read the Narnia books but I loved the movies. I've seen and read Hunger Games. The book is way better, so much detail was cut out in the movie.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting and followed you back!
I haven't read any Narnia books and neither watch the movies I'll try one soon. BUT! you must read The Hunger Games... It's awesome!

I've had lots of mixed comments about whether or not to read the Hunger Games books. I can't decide!
ReplyDeleteThat's probably a wise decision not to read the book when you're in love with the movie. Most of the times, it'll be so disappointing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting!

Aww you were disappointed with the Harry Potter movies? That's a shame!
ReplyDeleteNarnia never crossed my mind but I liked the movies better than the books, too. Just couldn't get into the books, though I did read them when I was a lot older. Thanks for stopping by my blog - new follower. =)
I loved the Narnia movies. They were fantastic. I did enjoy HP, although they were definitely different ;) Happy Friday.

ReplyDeleteI liked HP books more than the movies (both are amazing in their own ways, actually), but Twilight was better as books. And the Narnia Movies are great!

I think you'll be fairly safe in reading The Hunger Games. I absolutely love the film, and I think the book is only slightly better.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a long time since I've read the Narnia books, but I did enjoy the films quite a bit.
Thank you for the follow, I am following you back on Bloglovin'!

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the Narnia movies, but I haven't read the books.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the following. I'm now following you back on Bloglovin.
I haven't read *nor* watched the Narnia movies. *gasp* But the Hunger Games?! I honestly don't think you'll be disappointed if you read the books. You'll also get SO MUCH MORE information/insight to the characters and the plot. I definitely understand that fear, though. :)
